This unit was helpful and I have figured out some tips on how to teach new and existing groups. I agree, that during the first lesson no coursebook should be involved as the connection between the students and the teacher must be established. I often use questionnaires for adults and pass the ball game for children to elicit information about them and build a strong connection. Reluctant students and listening difficulties are the most common troubles I face. However, I never avoid facing them and for reluctant students prepare some role-play activities and when I have students who have difficulties in listening pre-teach them potentially hard vocabulary.
