This unit helped me to understand how to teach conditionals and reported speech, what are students’ common mistakes and how to deal with them, as well as provided me with lots of interesting ideas to make the learning interesting and incorporate them in student's speech naturally. Teaching conditionals for ESL students can be difficult because the native languages of the ESL students approach conditionals in different manners. Just as with present. past and future tenses, teaching conditionals requires eliciting the formation and usage. Teaching students reported speech can be complicated by all the changes that are required when moving from direct speech into reported speech, such as changes of verb tenses, pronouns questions, time expressions, etc. So, teachers should teach these grammar points step by step and make sure that students have got enough activities to practice the reported speech and realize that it is very commonly used either.
