In general, teaching aids can be used to more effectively engage students in a subject that otherwise would be presented in a very plain manner. They also promote autonomous study by providing interesting learning material that the students can review after the lesson. In addition, teaching aids usually allow to prepare lessons in advance, saving time and improving the interaction between teacher and students during the lesson.
Unit 17 discusses the advantages and caveats of using teaching resources and provides some usage suggestions, so this is a good reference document for the teacher to quickly consult prior to use one or more of these aids.
