Unit 2 was an introduction to grammar, which briefly explained, and gave examples to the different parts of speech. There are 8 parts of speech: 1. Nouns. 2. Adjectives. 3. Articles. 4. Verbs. 5. Adverbs. 6. Gerund. 7. Pronouns. 8. Prepositions/Conjunctions. Sounds simple enough, right? No! From there we began to dissect the different parts of speech into different categories, subcategories, and instances. The beginning paragraph of the unit made a statement that I realized was true. The statement was, "As native speakers of the English language this is something that we probably were not taught at school and despite using grammar perfectly in our natural, everyday speech, we often are unaware of what we are actually using or why we are using it." I graduated high school a little over 20 years ago, and apparently I forgot some of this teaching or as the unit stated I was never taught. I will definitely be going over this unit a few more times.
