This unit on pronunciation was really insightful. Particularly on outlining the intonation of sentences and on which kinds of words in the sentence/which syllables of the words get stressed. I also really appreciate all of the teaching tips and activity suggestions. I also think that the English phonetic alphabet is a really good idea for students to use when trying to learn the pronunciation of new words, however I am not sure how relevant this would be in an actual class. What I mean is how long would it take students to actually memorize all of the symbols in the English phonetic alphabet and then use them often enough to remember each of them. Although there are many words in English that are not pronounced how they are spelled, there are some patterns for pronouncing certain combinations of letters. I do think the phonetic alphabet can be really useful, just not sure how necessary it would be in a course.
