This unit focused on the basics of classroom management. The techniques teachers use to manage classrooms wildly differ between teachers, but the basics remain the same: balance teacher and student talking times (with strong preference towards STT), engage your class using eye contact, gestures, and voice (in a variety of ways), and space out your desks appropriately for the lesson and class (both of which can change the day of). Effective classroom management requires the full attention of the teacher in order to evaluate their actions/response. A teacher should never demand the attention of their students if they cannot commit to that attention themselves. While some activities may allow teachers to relax and/or sit, this does not mean they lose focus. Rather, they simply focus on monitoring students. As a side note, watch your back at the board. Too long writing on it without engaging students is boring for everyone in the classroom.
