The past tenses.
1. Past simple: Regular verbs add -ed or -d to the base form of the verb. Irregular verbs we need to remember their forms.
Usages: For a past action when the time is given, when the time is asked about, when the action clearly took place at a definite time even though this time is not mentioned, sometimes the time becomes definite as a result of a questions and answer in the present perfect.

2. Past continuous: past tense of the auxiliary verb be and the present participle.
Usages: For interrupted past actions, used without a time expression, it can indicate gradual development that took place in the past. It can express an action, which began before that time and probably continued after it. We use the continuous tense in descriptions.

3. Past perfect. We should see that all of the past perfect verbs represent actions that occurred before other actions in the past. We can let student story telling, give students a final situation and ask them to think the reasons why that situation had happened, and also can let student see a story and then retell the story.
Past perfect continuous. It certainly isn't the most frequently used tense in the English language.
