In unit eleven we discuss methods for teaching the two receptive skills of language mastery- reading and listening.When integrating these skills into a lesson it is important to incorporate topics which interest the students. Receptive skills are particularly well suited to pop culture such as music, movies, and celebrities; however the instructor must be careful if he or she uses authentic material for the engage phase of the lesson that the students are not overwhelmed. It is a good idea pre-teach any unfamiliar vocabulary the students will encounter in the reading or listening passages.
