Unit six explored the past tense in detail. The similarities of the present and past tenses were noted, with the comment that an individual can see these similarities of form and usage also in the future tense.
I specifically learned these three similarities depend upon the verb tense:
Some form of the verb 'to be' plus the 'ing' verb form indicate a continuous form in either past or present tenses.
Both past and present perfect tense forms contain the verb 'to have' plus the past participle verb form.
Perfect continuous forms use the verb 'to have' plus 'been', plus the 'ing' form of the verb.
