The content in Unit 9 (Lesson Planning) presents multiple approaches to take when planning out the English curriculum. It doesn't outright dictate that a lesson plan is an absolute plan; rather, it suggests that, "If one were to plan out a lesson, these are possible ways to go about it." There is an appreciation to the likelihood that inexperienced teachers will need some form of structure to follow, whereas the more experienced teachers will be much less dependent on a structured lesson plan. Unit 9 also tells us to keep in mind that we should try to be flexible and nimble, because circumstances can change and new challenges arise when teaching a class, so teachers may need to pivot and make some alterations to the lesson plan. Much like how a college syllabus is "tentative," meaning that the instructor may modify the schedule as he/she sees fit.
