Park Falls, Wisconsin TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit explored one of the most challenging and contested topics for ESL and native English speakers alike: modal auxiliary verbs and the passive voice. A short summary of phrasal verbs and relative clauses was also included. The main difficulties I find with these topics are the number of technicalities and the level of nuance in both written and spoken English, as seen in the tables and examples provided. One word could well and truly make all the difference in how a sentence is understood, more so when intonation is thrown into the equation. This is especially evident in phrasal verbs and relative clauses which I personally feel the need to reread several times to be confident with my comprehension. For this, I feel like this section could have been developed a little further with more examples.
