In this unit we learned the importance of speaking and writing and how vital they both are for students to learn how to properly communicate. While speaking and writing are very different, they are both very important to the other. Teaching how to properly speak the English language can be tricky so it is important to focus both on accuracy and fluency, not just specifically one or the other. Getting students to speak out loud can be difficult sometimes so being encouraging students to work together can be very helpful. We also learned that a single sound in the English language may be written many different ways because English is not phonetic. Extensive reading helps immensely with correct spelling and better understanding of words and their use.
