This unit covered the four past tenses used in English: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. The unit showed how the past tenses are formed grammatically, as well as usages and forms for each tense. The past tenses follow the same general rules as the present tenses, except that everything relates to the past/past events. There are several irregular verbs that do not fit into any "rules" when forming the past tense and past participle, and these must be memorized by students.
