I have learnt from my teaching experience that language points displayed in any form are more effective that verbal explanation. When my students watch a video extract, they are twice as motivated because this authentic visual material gives them the idea how much they have progressed on the course and how much of a real life language they are able to grasp. Therefore, it is important to select carefully what is being shown. After the video is played, we do comprehension tasks or role-play or launch the discussion in groups or as a class.
