The subjects of the unit are the different forms of conditional sentences,the reported speech and how to teach them effectively in the classroom. In English, most sentences using the conditional contain the word if. There are four main kinds of conditionals:
The Zero Conditional:(if + present simple, ... present simple)
The First Conditional:(if + present simple, ... will + infinitive)
The Second Conditional:(if + past simple, ... would + infinitive)
The Third Conditional(if + past perfect, ... would + have + past participle)
The unit also covers the differences between direct and reported speech.When we report someone’s words we can do it in two ways. We can use direct speech or we can use reported speech.In reported speech the tenses, word-order and pronouns may be different from those in the original sentence.
