This unit talks about evaluation approaches for students.
First, we discuss why tests and evaluation are important. Because, for example, they help teachers to know the students level and both their weaknesses and strengths so that teachers can prepare more suitable teaching materials.
Second, common kinds of tests are placement test, diagnostic test, progress test, practice test -- at schools, and external test -- by public institutions in order to evaluate students' level for certain purposes.
Last but not least, test must cover all four abilities -- listening, reading, writing and speaking, among which vocabulary, grammar should be included too.
