Receptive skills are very important as well as productive skills. We can read or listen for a particular purpose or for entertainment. Some pre-existing knowledge of the world, our cultural values also influence our productive skills. Although both reading and listening are equally important, listening can cause more difficulties as the students have less time to guess the meaning of some difficult words or understand the general context. To make students feel more comfortable with reading and listening the teacher should preteach some difficult words before doing a particular task and let students themselves get the general idea and understand some other words they may not know.
