There are four past tense forms in English-past simple,past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous.We use past tenses to express an action completed in the past, action that hasn't been completed yet or action in progress at a specific time in the past , action that was completed before a past time,action in the past that had been going on up to the past moment we are talking about.
So, past tense is very important.We need to use it to describe most of our personal experiences, as well as things that have happened to other people.
