In this lesson, I learned reading and listening.
There are four basic skill in any language, receptive skill-reading and listening, and productive skills-speaking and writing. All are equally important.
How we read and listen? Reading and listening are not simply matter for the eyes and ears, but also a matter of using our minds to literally understand words and process them in our pre-existent knowledge to gain ture understanding.
There are some different skills, predictive skills, specific information-scanning, general idea-skimming, detailed information, deduction from context.
For reading, first we need to choose a topic, and create interest, we need to prvide comprehension tasks that promote understanding, as opposed to just checking understanding.

The basic keys are, choose material that interests, build interest before reading or listening, pre-teach complex vocabulary or structures if necessary, but not over do it, vary the type of material, use the material to practise different skills, use realistic comprehension tasks that aid understanding, incorporate activate phases that naturally lead on from the text.
