This unit was about teaching materials. There are three main kinds of teaching materials – authentic, created, and course books. I teach in English in a Japanese high school and based on this experience and this unit I think it is best to use a mix of materials. A textbook helps with the syllabus and there are good textbooks. Carefully selected authentic materials can be useful as can created materials. I also often find myself modifying authentic materials so they are more suited to my students, a kind of authentically created material.
