The lesson covered the four past tenses and gave various examples on how they are structured and explanations on what situations they are used in. Some of the tenses, such as past simple and past perfect, related back to when I learned about present simple and present perfect a couple units back, so it was a great way for me to understand and remember what verb form I had to use. This unit brought up good points on how some past tense verbs are used to explain actions at a certain time in the past and possible future, such as how past perfect continuous explains an action that began in the past and will likely continue into the present. Learning about the past perfect tense was a useful lesson on how the past participle form of a verb is used rather than the past simple, and how these two verb forms differ. As a native English speaker I normally do not think too much on how these tenses are formed, so it was interesting to see the reasons we use certain past tenses. I believe seeing these explanations helps me gain a better understanding to aid me in remembering as well as provide a stronger foundation when I teach this lesson.
