Unit 12 is all about the skills required for teaching productive skills. The unit is separated into two main parts namely speaking and writing, each skill being as important as the other. Speaking activities are taught according to accuracy; where the emphasis is on producing correct language and fluency where the emphasis is on using language more creatively and freely. Writing skills are taught with practice, spelling, layout and punctuation. The use of writing skills can be encouraged using creative writing exercises and also the use of games. Productive skills and receptive skills are both intertwined and successful progress will depend on the improvement of both these skill.
