This unit focused on EFL Methodology. Ten different theories, methods and techniques were summarized. The methodology developed by Jeremy Harmer known as "ESA" or Engage, Study and Activate is identified as the method used in this coursework, and all submitted material must follow this method.
I learned there is a difference between mistakes and errors. There are guidelines for making corrections, including when it is appropriate, and when to wait until later (as during a role-playing situation). Self-correction is the best option, then student to student correction, with teacher correction as the last resort.
Correction becomes relevant when:
1. The mistake deals with a language point being taught.
2. The mistake is regularly repeated.
3. The mistake interferes with understanding the material.
