Ongoing overt feedback is a great way to provide students with information about where they are in the process of learning English.
Tutorials
Tutorials can include all students or be for individual students.
Evaluation by the students
Use a questionnaire and/or guided discussions to obtain a course evaluation from the students. You may want to discuss the results of the survey in a future lesson.
Tests
Giving tests during the different stages of language learning can be a great tool to help students. A placement test at the beginning of the class and periodic/progress tests throughout the course are often part of the class. Practice tests are also popular when the students will have to take an external test at the end of the course. An achievement test is usually an 'internal test given at the end of the course'.
