In this unit, we talked about future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous and going to future. I think the differences between future simple and going to future are important.
Future simple: predictions (based on no present evidence) be going to: based on present evident
Future simple: spontaneous decisions, be going to: plans -- decisions made before speaking
I didn't know their differences before...
Present simple and present continuous can also be used to describe future. But they are usually used to talk about timetables and schedules, i.e. something definite, and they are not about predictions.
