I find it interesting that productive and receptive skills, although similar, are developed so individually. For example, some people find receptive skills are much easier to develop, while others find productive skills easier to learn. Both are an essential part of effective communication, and take time and practice to develop.
I love that the different parts of a lesson focus on different areas. The engage phase is mostly intended to help warm up the student to the language. The study phase is intended to improve accuracy, while the activate phase provides an opportunity for practicing the improved skills and increasing fluency. Reading these units has helped me to recognize the value of a well planned lesson with many different areas of focus.
