I feel another advantage to using authentic materials in the classroom, is that often language is taught at a much slower pace. A lot of records that go along with course books have the speakers speaking at a much slower speed than what a natural speaker would use. Using videos, such as real commercials, would allow students to hear and see the real speed of a natural speaker. So this unit really gave me confidence in my advocating authentic material use.
