Lesson planning is useful for creating a logical sequence for the lesson, a working document, recording what has been taught, and for use in case someone needs to cover you at work.
Two areas need to be covered in lesson plan:
General information about class
What should happen during the actual lesson?
Lesson plan document should contain:
Name of the teacher, date and time, class level, room #, expected number of students, context (i.e. grammar) of lesson, and focus of the lesson (how were are going to go about teaching).
Learner objectives (students will be able to…), teacher aims (complete lesson successfully, more specific as you go --> improve student talk time)
Anticipated problems for students ( difficulties with pronunciation --> do some drill work ) Anticipated problems for ourselves (keeping focus throughout whole lesson --> refer to our plan throughout the lesson)
