In this unit I have learned how to behave as a teacher and how to arrange the class in order to better manage and maintain control of it. This lesson taught me the various pros and cons of different classroom and seating arrangements, as well as how certain arrangements may benefit different lessons and phases of the class. For example, students arranged in rows works well for a larger class and a teacher would benefit by walking around to monitor students and their progress. A horseshoe seating arrangement, however, would work well for a smaller class to create a more intimate setting and allow the teacher to easily maintain eye contact with all students. This lesson also covered ways to establish a good rapport between teacher and students. One thing that continued to stand out to me was to be firm and respectful to the students, and that remaining consistent and enthusiastic will create a more interesting and mutually enjoyable environment.
