This section contained a lot of new information that was new to me. I was already very familiar with active and passive voice, but I had never specifically reviewed phrasal verbs or modals before. Modals express possibility, obligation, necessity, varying degrees of politeness and certainty. Phrasal verbs are phrases that, taken as a whole, have the function of a verb, such as "get over it" (which has a very different meaning than "get" alone) or "take someone down" (which similarly differs from "take").
