The unit discusses the importance of pronunciation and Phonolgy in language teaching and learning process.This is one of most difficult aspects in learing a language. Phonology is the study of the patterns of sounds in a language and across languages.Like many other languages, English has wide variation in pronunciation.Variation in volume and pitch within an entire sentence is intonation .Intonation describes how the voice rises and falls in speech. The three main patterns of intonation in English are: falling intonation, rising intonation and fall-rise intonation. The unit looks at how we use intonation and stress to emphasis our speech, as well as techniques and activities that can help the students gain confidence when using the language.
