When considering which new grammar, vocabulary or function to teach one has to be mindful of the functionality, appropriacy and the actual practicality of it especially with regards to the level of the students.
I have learned that these factors should be considered in order to keep students engaged and providing them with motivation and or reasons to utilize the new vocabulary/grammar in practical terms. As a teacher one has to make sure to also bring across the correct meaning, usage and how the new material is connected with what they already know as well as different parts of speech.
The different structure also allows the teacher and students to teach and learn about new material in a captivating and creative way through the role play and allowing students to draw from their own experiences. As mentioned above the practicality combined with the introduction of new material should assist with how students can use the language in the role play (activate) stage.
The study stage also allows the students to see the correct written form and practice it in written form which will enhance and reinforce the learning. The latter goes hand in hand with the practical usage in the activate stage.
