In Unit 7, I have learnt how to teach new language, including vocabulary, grammar and functions. How to teach vocabulary? For most of the teachers, word list must be mastered and repeated by students without thinking and choosing. But the better is to select which words to teach. The words should be used appropriacy to the students and the task, frequency and coverage, and teachability. Secondly, when teaching, the meaning, use, word grammar, interaction, spelling and pronunciation of the vocabulary should be told clearly. How to introduce grammar? The followings what the language means, how it is used, what the grammatical form is and how it is said/written should be introduced clearly. Language functions can convey much information about inviting, refusing, agreeing and disagreeing, and also include appropriacy of the language’s usage. In most cases lots of teachers are more focused on grammar rather than the other two. After learning this lesson, I think I will focus not only grammar but also vocabulary and functions.
