Unit 15, Evaluation and Testing, covered many different types of assessment techniques. Knowing different ways to assess students is very important. In my classrooms, I try to have my students take surveys at the beginning of the semester to see where they believe they stand and what they believe they need to focus on. I like doing this because it brings in a self evaluation. With that I like to do little progress tests. This shows me if my teaching style is working for the students needs or not, by seeing if they are progressing or back sliding. One thing I disagree with is diagnostic tests. I believe that these are sometimes a little inaccurate. Some students get placed to high while others sometimes are placed too low. I believe that these sometimes can be hurtful for the students to be placed in the wrong levels. With diagnostic tests, I believe that there should be a follow up test with an English native. Overall, I believe this is an important lesson because a students progress and levels are important to know.
