Phonetics is key to any language. Without understanding the phonetic alphabet, we would have a much harder time distinguishing phonemes and have less of an understanding of where stresses need to go in sentences. What was most useful in this unit was the demonstration of the phonetic alphabet and how the human body interacts with phonetics in general. Though in the classroom, this I believe can have frustrating results, I believe it is vital for teachers to know.
