This was a fairly extensive unit that went over modals, phrasal verbs, and the passive (as opposed to "active") voice. Modals were relatively simple to understand, though it was interesting to think about percentages of certainty being assigned to some of them. The passive voice was at first somewhat confusing to understand, but it quickly fell into place, as you just think about which part is being acted upon to reverse it. Phrasal verbs seemed to be appropriately placed last, as they really took some thinking to wrap my head around understanding the types. As such, I found it particularly amusing that the final sentence was, "Don't be afraid of phrasal verbs!" And now that I think I understand them fairly well, I can appreciate the wisdom of throwing them into regular conversation in classes on occasion to get students familiar with them. I had initially thought, "Oh my, I guess I may have to pay attention to even using simple verb types in my speech with English students!"
