In any language there are four basic skills divided in two groups; receptive skills – reading and listening and productive skills – speaking and writing. We read and listen with to achieve a particular purpose, for example when we study for an exam or attend a class. We also read and listen for entertainment like when we read a comic book or watch a movie. When presenting reading materials to the students the teacher should take in consideration their interests and present a variety of different topics.
