This section focused on the different approaches between teaching vocabulary, grammar, and language functions. These language aspects are similar in that the student needs to learn the meaning and usage as well as having the lessons be appropriate for their needs. The differences between teaching these aspects of the language is the approach to teaching or the lesson plan. Vocabulary lessons seems to benefit students more when following a straight-arrow style plan. Grammar lessons seems to be more useful when following a lesson plan that emphasizes the study and activate stages, such as the patchwork or boomerang style plan.
