Visual aids are especially important in a language classroom as they help set scenes and also allow easier vocabulary comprehension. Worksheets and work cards are also good vocabulary aids as well as reading and grammar. Videos and DVDs are great for presenting information as it is both a visual and listening comprehension aid for a language learning student. Dictionaries are always useful to have handy but should be the focal point for any lesson. Resources books are great for grammar exercise and presenting communication games. Computers are also a great language aid, but will not always be readily available in a classroom. Computers have a tendency to makes students rather uncommunicative anyway which is the exact opposite of what a teacher wants in a language learning classroom. There are so many different resources for a teacher to utilize to give lessons variety and elements of surprise.
