In this unit, we have learned the various methods of classroom management. We first spoke about eye contact and gestures and how we should stick yo universally known gestures to ensure everyone understands. In addition to this, we learned how and when to control the volume and tone of our voices when speaking to a student. The unit then progressed on the pro's and con's of grouping students, which is very important knowledge for a teacher because it allows you to plan an activity in a more disciplined manner. The specific ways a teacher can seat the students in class all have a purpose, and are influenced by various things, for example, class size and the specific activity chosen for class. Establishing rapport with the students is a quintessential method to improve the atmosphere in the class. What I have taken from this unit, that has benefited me the most, is the focus on TTT and STT. Sometimes it is easy for me speak too much, and I now have methods to limit my speaking and I believe this will greatly benefit me in the future.
