The unit talks about an area of English language teaching that is highly important to most students, but often overlooked by many teachers, i.e. pronunciation. It examines the International Phonetic Alphabet and the ways in which it can be used to help teachers and students. It also covers related subjects such as how we use the mouth to produce different sounds, the importance of word stress and intonation in communicating feelings and intentions, as well as the various ways in which native speakers change and adapt their spoken language.
