Listening and reading are receptive skills. We use them for a purpose or for entertainment. We can read and listen in different ways: predictive skills, scanning, skimming, detailed information and deduction from context. In order to help students to develop these skills, or to tackle the information whether is going to be listened or read, we should pre-teach them vocabulary to help them to make the exercise easier. And being careful in our selection of texts. It has to be adapted to the level we're teaching.
What I feel is that I need to improve in the part of pre-teaching vocabulary. Usually I've done this after listening or reading. Now I think that, by pre-teaching vocabulary, can help my students to look forward to read the text.
