Norwich, Vermont TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
As with the receptive skills from the previous unit, speaking and writing struggle with the same hurdles, but on a different scale. As described in the unit, students of native languages with a different alphabetical system than English have to learn both new writing and speaking systems, though productive skills require more work than receptive skills, understanding a conversation doesn't necessary mean you can take part in it, the same way reading text doesn't necessarily mean you could write it yourself. There is only so much that can be taught by a teacher, and to achieve a good proficiency with either of those, the student will have to apply himself to extensive training, but the teacher can and must provide the students with a goal, a reason, or, as explained in the unit, "a desire" to communicate.
