This unit describes different kinds of materials that are often utilized in an ESL classroom. I have seen authentic materials used more in advanced classes rather than beginner classes. In think creative materials, such as an invented dialogue, are more useful in a beginner class because the students need to have a solid foundation of a specific set of skills upon which to build, and the teacher must figure out ways to teach those skills.
