In our teaching English job, we can use lesson materials in order to help our students. These can be authentic materials - programs, magazines, newspapers, etc. And created materials: Crosswords, role-play cards, word search puzzles, etc.
Most of us who work in a language school may use coursebooks to teach English. We do not need to follow step by step the syllabus that the book offers. We can adapt our lessons depending on our students. Therefore, we can choose among four options to coursebook use: omit, replace, supplement, adapt.
This topic is really interesting because, where I work we use coursebooks. And since I am a beginner teacher, I feel stuck with the coursebook. But from now on, my goal is to use supplementary material in order to help my students to fully understand what is being taught. Besides that, they will not feel bored.
