There was a lot of useful information in this unit. It's particularly beneficial for conceptualizing strategies to make the lessons as effective as possible. The clarity of knowing that there are basically three components to a lesson ('Engage', 'Study', 'Activate'), and the general guidelines around those, helps facilitate the lesson planning. Now that I'm aware, I'll always begin with the 'Engage' phase to get the students warmed up and interested, and always end with the 'Activate' phase to make sure the students get enough practice using what they have been learning. Beyond that, there's tremendous flexibility and opportunity to be creative in how to best arrange the lesson between those two aforementioned preliminary and closing portions of the lesson, .
