It's fascinating how I've been able to apply these grammar rules without any conscious effort simply for being a native speaker. Without being aware of important elements pertaining to grammar in general, such as those indicated throughout the unit regarding the present tense, I would have an incredibly difficult time explaining why the present tense is applied in one certain way or other. I'm much more confident now that I know the context for the different applications of the tense since they've all been delineated very clearly in this unit. Indeed, this unit does a great job in elaborating and clarifying the variations in present tense contexts, therefore emboldening me with the necessary tools and categories to deliver more incisive explanations of the present tense to future students. Most importantly, the knowledge that there are four categories of the present tense - (1) present simple; (2) present continuous; (3) present perfect; (4) present perfect continuous - will significantly improve a non-native speaker's ability to articulate.
