Learning about different methodologies has been helpful and has highlighted how adaptable teaching has to be in order to cater to different kinds of learning and learners. It also interesting to reflect on the methodologies the students may be used to from their prior educational experiences and how lesson plans and strategies suggested by the ESA approach can be used to motivate, engage and expose learners to different ways of learning a language that they may not have been otherwise familiar with. This has been a point of conflict in my experience, where students from very rigid, punitive edu systems found the ESA techniques infantalizing at times, or at least perceived that in such a way, of course as a teacher our role is to ensure that a 'fun' approach is not dumbed down in content but rather used as a tool to activate or elicit knowledge that the student already has but may lack confidence (soft skills) to use. The soft skills component that is engrained in the ESA approach is incredibly important, assisting in direct exposure to the language and the right personal skills to develop confidence to use it;
