The third unit of this course revolves around the teaching theory, methodologies, concepts, and lesson structures. The unit begins by discussing various teaching theories such as Grammar-Translation based teaching and Community Language learning. Following theories are the methodologies used to construct a basic lesson or the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) form. The text further elaborates on each concept, breaking them down into how one will may build each section of the lesson. The end of the lesson gives example materials for each section of the lesson.
As a teacher, I found the example such as games and activities to be particularly helpful. I shall definitely be implementing some the activities into my future lesson. In a addition, it was important to be reminded that there is a time for teacher centered and student based speaking in the classroom.
