I learnt some very important concepts in this Unit. For example, although I understand Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing constitute four key skills or components in any language, I was hardly exposed to the concept of Receptive Skills and Productive Skills and how the four core skills of RLSW are explained in the two framework. The Unit gave me a good understanding of the differentiation between these concepts. Indeed, it was veer useful to the learn the approaches or way in which we can help students overcome language difficulty: for example, through pre-teaching vocabulary, carefully selecting the texts, topics and tasks and making sure students remain engaged in the learning process in each phase of Engage, Study and Activate.
